To setup Windows 2000 to connect to BSNL Internet

- Double Click on the
"Start" button, click on "Settings", click on "Network and Dial-up
Connections", choose "Make New Connection.


- Select "I want to
set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a
local area network (LAN)"
- Click the "Next"
button.

- Select "I connect
through a phone line and a modem".
- Click on the "Next"
button.

- In the "Area Code"
field, type: 080.
- In the "Telephone
number" field, type the number corresponding to your connection :
NETONE(postpaid) - 172222
SANCHARNET(prepaid) - 172233
- Verify that "Use
area code and dialing rules" is NOT selected.
- Click the
"Advanced" button.

- Verify that under
"Connection type", "PPP (Point to Point Protocol)" is selected, and
under "Logon procedure", "None" is selected.
- Click on the
"Addresses" tab.

- For "IP Address",
select "Internet service provider automatically provides one".
- For "DNS server
address", select "Internet service provider automatically provides one".
- Click on the "OK"
button.

- For your "User
name", enter the first part of your Sancharnet Email Address (the part
before the @Sancharnet.in) in case of Sancharnet.
- For your "User
name", enter the telephone number in case of Netone.
- Type your Password for "Password:".
- Click the "Next"
button.

- Type BSNL for
the "Connection name:".
- Click on the "Next"
button.

- Select "No", click on the "Next" button and then click on the "Finish"
button. At this point, you are ready to connect to Internet.)

- You have now
successfully configured your computer to connect to BSNL. Click on
the "Finish" button and give it a try!
